Placenta previa-20 weeks

I have just found out I have placenta previa, full covering of cervix at 20 weeks and wondering if anyone else has or has had experience. Am really upset, I was high likely of a section anyway due to previous section but this feels extremely serious and anxiety provoking.

I've not quite got placenta previa but I've got a low lying anterior and it's partially covering they think but couldn't see fully. I've also had GD since 10 weeks so I just felt like this was the last straw tbh! But we soldier on ❤️ I've been told not to exert myself, no running, no heavy lifting and no sex. It's been hard with a toddler who constantly wants to be carried and I only found out on Wednesday! Have you been told it could move?

@Betty that’s the thing they didn’t actually tell me on my scan they just referred me. I seen it on my pregnancy notes and asked my midwife, who has said that it’s higher risk and serious but didn’t seem too concerned. Didn’t say to stop any activities etc. I do have a consultant appointment tomorrow unrelated anyway so going to ask but has just upset me as I was hoping for a better pregnancy than last time

I know the feeling! I had HG and GD last time, this time HG, GD and now this 😄 plus a toddler to look after. It's shitty they didn't mention it to you on the scan. I was told then and there and then shown it on the screen, then sent straight round to the antenatal clinic to be seen by a midwife. I've seen some trusts online saying to stop certain activities and then some say you don't need to do anything. It can be so confusing when it's a trust by trust advice kind of thing! I've been really struggling this pregnancy, but I'm 21 weeks now and I keep reminding myself I'm over half way whenever I get too down about how it's going. I'm definitely two and done! I'm going to have two boys and my family keep telling me to try for a third for a girl, it feels so insensitive! I've not even safely birthed my second yet!

I have a low lying anterior placenta (12mm from my cervix) and they are trying to rule out that it's embedded in my previous c section scar due to where it is which is also terrifying me! The midwives have all been really positive and said the majority of placentas will move, I think if it's complete placenta previa it's less likely to move but I think they would've told you if that was the case. I was put on pelvic rest, told not to have sex and limit picking my son up but think that's more because of the placenta accreta worry

@Kira thanks, when did they put you on pelvic rest? I have a scan in 4 weeks to rule out whether it’s embedded in my scar (I also had a myomectomy so have 2 scars) . My consultant was just like carry on as normal but am worried.

After my 20 weeks scan they told me and I asked again last week (23 weeks) if I'm still on pelvic rest and she said yes either for the whole pregnancy or until the placenta moves. Could you ask your consultant again or just limit yourself anyway if it's something that's worrying you, different hospitals must have different policies on these things x
