We started having family dinner when the girls turned around six months old (identical twins) I won’t lie it’s incredibly stressful for me, however I do still love it. I’m a SAHM though so I do think I have a lot more time than working moms to meal prep early in the day.
We usually batch cook and then just heat up leftovers for dinner and have dinner together between 5-6p. If she's hungry earlier, usually some fruit will hold her for an hour without ruining dinner
I try my best to do dinner with her if we can! We try to do the easiest meals (like crockpot or already prepped foods like Kevin’s). I get home around 4:45 and we typically try to eat about 5:30. We start bath time around 6:15. Nights are so packed and hectic but I feel like it’s important for them to see their people eating too. This doesn’t happen every night! But if we can make it happen we try
We all eat at 5 and get ready for bed around 7 and in bed at 7:30/8 If she's hungry before, I'll give her a little snack.
A little run down of our days I’m up at 4:45 to get ready for work Wake her up at 5:35-5:40, she eats a little bit of breakfast and we head to day care I work 7-5, pick her up and we are usually home around 6:15-6:25 depending on traffic Her dad works 7-5 as well but is a little closer so most of the time dinner is about ready. We eat around 6:30-7 Play time til about 7:45 Bath And then bedtime 8-8:15 That little time of eating dinner together is usually the only thing we get together M-F
Wow, I'm impressed that so many of you eat so early! I've convinced my husband to (begrudgingly) try for us all to eat dinner together around 6 or 6:30 tonight. He thinks it's too early, but I'm pretty excited!
My baby likes to eat dinner at 430. We pick him up from daycare at 315. Get home at 330 and hang out for a while with baby. Then he starts getting fussy around 430 and I stick him in his highchair while i cook and he drinks a sippy with milk. Sometimes he gets his own dinner separately and sometimes i can get ours at same time. It just depends what the adults are having. But hubby generally hangs out with baby while I cook. I don’t always get to spend time after work/daycare with him. Then after we eat its around 5:30 ish. We hang out some more while we clean up and get ready for bed. He goes to bed at 630. I am with him 4 hours a day but really only hang out together maybe 1.5-2 hours at most. It’s definitely team effort and handing baby off between parents when we are all together. So I just try to eat together sometimes, not all the times.
