Postpartum bleeding

Any advice - I am 18 days postpartum and my bleeding had really lessened over the last week or so. So much so I needed a normal sanitary pad but there wasn’t much on it. Today I have woken up and there was a small clot on the pad and I was bleeding bright red again. It was heavy but not enough to soak a pad in an hour. Has anyone else experienced similar? Should I be contacting anyone or wait and see if the bleeding stops? Is it a sign I’m doing too much? Is it my period restarting? I’ve read somewhere it could be a placenta scab? Thanks in advance

I’m 16 days postpartum and experienced the exact same thing a few days ago! I called my midwife and they said it can be a sign you are doing too much and that it can stop and start. As long as the bleeding isn’t heavy to a point it won’t stop and the blood clots aren’t bright red and bigger than 50p coin then it’s seen to be normal up to 6 weeks x

I have the exact same. I’m day 17. I had no blood at all Friday/ Saturday and all day Sunday (until the evening) and now it’s come back with a vengeance! I had a clot about the size of a £2 coin and when I wipe after going for a wee I’m having to wipe several times to clear the blood! I was going to contact my midwife today to ask for some advice

I had the exact same and it lasted one day and coincided with me going out for a longer walk the day before. I took it easy after that and it lessened off again the next day. I'd keep an eye on it and make sure you're not overdoing things.

Hey, I have experienced very similar things, I think I was about 14 days postpartum when I experienced my first large clot and heavy bleed. I called triage and they said that it wasn't that normal so long after birth and to monitor it. I then experienced more bleeding and clots so I went to triage and after having an ultrasound they confirmed that there is a small piece of placenta/membrane which is remaining in my uterus. If your bleeding and clots continue I would suggest contacting triage while you are still under their care to see what they say. It may not be the case for you but worth checking as I need to have the piece removed.
