Can anyone please me feel at ease with c section I’m hoping to have one as it’s the most suitable for me with being on blood thinner injections. Do you actually get to have skin to skin contact with your baby Thank you

I had a emergency C-section and wasn’t really a choice in my case, but the team really looking after you well and you get to have a skin to skin contact as soon as you get transferred into the hospital bed, I would say to get it done if that’s what you need to have done, make sure you voice your thoughts, is what I did and asked them to get my husband to do it, incase I was unable to, which they were happy to comply with too

Yes you do. You get asked about all of that before hand if it’s planned and again during the surgery. I was asked if I wanted her first or my partner etc.

I had an emergency section but there were still choices available like who holds baby first, if partner wants to cut (re cut) cord. skin to skin was started in recovery for me.

I had skin to skin after my baby was born however I have to say it wasn’t enjoyable for me. There’s a huge lack of space on your chest and you’re covered in cables etc to monitor you during surgery. I had her on me for a few mins then I asked them to remove her as she was literally under my chin and I couldn’t even see her. We made up for it by having hours of skin to skin/breast feeding in recovery 😊

Mine was an emergency csection but I absolutely loved my experience and healing time. My husband got to cut the cord and they immediately put baby on my chest for a minute before they took him to clean him up and make sure he was healthy

I had a planned section as baby boy was breech, was the nice and calm and baby was cleaned up and check out and brought to me within a few mins for skin to skin x

I just had an unplanned C-section this past weekend.. was not my plan at all but baby had other plans.. honestly was a good experience. Everyone was lovely, and reassuring and calming. I did not have skin to skin but only because my anxiety was through the roof and I knew I wasn’t in a state where I could safely hold my baby. But my partner did hold the baby, and that was great. As soon as I was being wheeled out and I felt like I could hold baby, he was in my arms.

Yes they insist on it even if you're half awake from exhaustion 😄

I had one and I got to do skin to skin right after but tbh after going through the c section I just wanted the dad to hold her and leave me to crash for a couple hours so hopped up on fentanyl

I had an emergency c section and I didn't get to hold my baby till an hour after he was born, my husband had him the whole time Instead. Once ur back in ur room after surgery you can do what u want with ur baby, but u will need someone to pass u baby and undress them and stuff as u can't move anything except from ur rib cage above. But honestly after my c section is was so overwhelmed and tired n the novelty had worn off after not even being able to see what he looked like for an hour after being born so I didn't bother
