Where abouts on the milk ladder? First step?

My little boy won’t eat a Malted Milk 🫣 these are 6% milk powder. Could I try these as step one?

I think it’s to do with how long the dairy is baked into product but I don’t know what percentage etc. Would he eat it hidden in something? My little girl wouldn’t eat it, so we crumbled it in yoghurt or hid it in her weetabix 😂. She reacted to a quarter so we only got that far, would be harder to hide a whole biscuit I guess 😅 good luck! x

@Katie ahh right that makes sense! He’s such a fussy boy he won’t eat weetabix either! But he does love yoghurt so I think I’ll give that a try tomorrow. He actually ate two of these just now and no reaction yet and he ate them 20 minutes ago! his reactions prior were all immediate so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 xx

I believe because the milk is in the seasoning it'll be higher up Have you tried biscotti biscuits I'm sure they're step 1 too As above though it's how long its been cooked for so a biscuit is cooked the longest and milk has been cooked more meaning easier to digest Also always make sure it's not just whey or casein in a product as it has to be both protiens to determine a true reaction

@Emma-louise oh really? He reacts to wheat flour specifically too and all the biscottis have that it in 😩. I didn’t know that either about the ingredients so I’ll have a look, thank you for that x

@Rebekah is it possible for you to make the biscuits on the recipe and try those? I'm sorry I have no other advice my girl hasn't started the milk ladder yet she's only 10 months and been told to wait until around 14 months due to other allergies

Your dietitian should be able to advice on other options, especially if you baby has other allergies.

@𝔾𝕚𝕤𝕖𝕝𝕝𝕖 thank you, they actually discharged us because we’re under the allergy consultants but not due a review with them for another month, I may try the dietician again and just see if they’ll speak for advice x

@Emma-louise thank you for your help, I will have a look at some recipes. Yeah we were told to wait until he was a year but I put it off, he’s 13 months in a few days so thought we’d give it a go x

I remember seeing some Schär biscuits with milk. They are gluten free.

We used the schar rich tea biscuits as they're gluten free (our son's a coeliac badly) and these worked perfectly for the first step we just did a whole biscuit from the start to make sure there was an adequate amount of dairy in them

@YazmynJade oh that’s great thank you, I will get some of those! X

@Rebekah we used them and sailed through the milk ladder with them as a starting point. I don't know the milk content as we couldn't figure it out at all but went for a whole one and we ended up completing the milk ladder in 3 weeks as a complete pass even when our son had such severe ige symptoms he would have seizures from milk and stop breathing and now he goes to bed every night with a bottle of cows milk so there's hope out there!
