24 weeks with twins and my doctor thinks I’m having them based on what I am describing. Not sure if this is too early, it’s my first pregnancy
@Lee G I was concerned as well, but apparently it’s normal to begin feeling them after 20 weeks!! My doctor just said to pay attention to how often they occur and be mindful of increasing intensity and shorter duration between instances. (I’ve also read labor pains begin in the back, whereas Braxton hicks are felt in the front? Don’t quote me on this - currently pregnant with my first!)
I just started feeling them today too, I’m 23 weeks. It wasn’t anything intense, just felt a little tightening in my lower abdomen for a few seconds. With my first pregnancy I didn’t get them until my third trimester, so it threw me off a bit 😅 But yes @Claire labor contractions are more frequent and consistent. You’ll feel a lot of pressure on your lower back, similar to period cramps, and they’ll get progressively more intense with time (at least that was my experience)
I have had a couple and it definitely had to do with my hydration. Usually they occur but aren’t painful so I don’t notice them. But if I haven’t been drinking water it feels like a large muscle cramp and my belly is tight.
I’ve had one experience so far - it was a day I was a bit dehydrated. Felt like a few pulls similar to menstrual cramps lasting a second or two. Maybe happened three or four times over a couple of minutes. Nothing since! That was around 27 weeks
