Social Media

How do I politely ask family and friends to not post anything about our pregnancy or baby when she arrives. I just find it a really awkward conversation to have. Help šŸ„ŗ

Just say please don't post anything about our pregnancy or the baby once she arrives as we don't wish for it to be on there, thankyou for understanding. It's your baby they have no right to argue with you on it so it should be simple ish šŸ¤žšŸ¼

Itā€™s so awkward especially to the excited grandmother (MIL) that wants to show their grandchild off to the world. But defo have the chat before though I didnā€™t with my first as I thought it was a given ā€œdonā€™t post without parents permissionā€ turns out itā€™s not and it was even more awkward telling them to take it down! We post to social media occasionally but prior to our son being born we went through all our friends and removed everyone weā€™ve not spoken to or seen in last year or so. Itā€™s literally just close friends and family. Even so people see you posting your child and it thinks it gives them a green light to post your child too to their hundreds and hundreds of strangers to you šŸ˜³

Itā€™s very awkward. Would you send a message to everyone on WhatsApp or ? I havenā€™t posted anything about being pregnant or anything on any of my socials so I would have just assumed people wouldnā€™t either. But I guess the world we like in now social media is a nightmare. Itā€™s stressing me out.

I would probably just put it in a group WhatsAppā€™s if you have a family group. ā€œHey everyone as you know baby will be here in the next few months. I really hope you appreciate our wishes to not post any news or pictures regarding our baby on any form of social media, Thank you for understanding xxā€

This day in age most people will completely understand but you just gotta tell it to them straight cause a lot of people lack common sense especially when their excited family members wanting to show of the latest baby in the family šŸ˜‚

It still baffles me that people have to be told not to announce the birth of someone elseā€™s child šŸ˜‚ thereā€™s always one though isnā€™t there! If it was my husbands family Iā€™d ask him to send a message as I donā€™t need that stress šŸ˜‚

Im also worried about this. My mum said she should be able to put it on Facebook as it was her news. And posted about my pregnancy with 'id like to share our news'... And posted my due date and the sex of the baby. I don't want to have it on social media and will just have to tell them not to! I get told I'm a weirdo.. but I don't really care, I'm hoping they will stick to my wishes.
