Do you toddlers say weird or worrying things?

My son is very talkative and usually this is fine but at bedtime tonight he said soooo many weird things. He wants to be in my tummy again and wants to be smaller. He wants to eat his cousins (this is the bit worrying me the most!) He wants his birthday presents to go back to the shop (he was very polite at his party and seemed to love his presents.) I’m so confused about all of this! He usually talks a lot but not weird stuff like this.

I wouldn’t worry - first one is normal - my child says this - think it’s a bit of wanting to be closer to you as they start to grow separate from you more and more - starting nursery etc - second one sounds like he’s being silly - trying to make you laugh maybe ? Third one sounds like he’s annoyed with you - maybe for encouraging him to go to sleep??? They have lots of random thoughts and feelings at this age it seems, wouldn’t be worried at all

I agree with @danielle I wouldnt b worried my LG always says she wants to go back in my tummy and b smaller later she will.say she's a big girl..lol the eating cousins things just sounds like a random funny thought to make u laugh not anything sinister, i think about all the times I've played games with my LG and pretended to eat her feet or something..lol as for the toy thing maybe he thinks if u take them back he can get new ones..lol or he was just trying to distract u so he didn't have to go to sleep. Kids say the funniest things I wouldnt put too much stock to it.

Thank you ladies, I’m currently pregnant with #2 and haven’t told him yet so think I’m also just very conscious that he’s having all these big feelings already and then we’ve got to give him this news that changes his little life forever. I’m worried he’s not going to take it well at all

Think positive - I’m sure it’ll go fine - I’m one and done - but I’ve heard three is a good age gap bc they’ve built that secure attachment with you and are less likely to feel pushed out than younger little ones

Bless you and your little one. As per comments above - I wouldn't be worried too. Relating to wanting be back in your tummy and be smaller - my girl is the same she often says she is a big girl and then suddenly she doesn't want to be 3 years old, she'll says she is a baby and sometimes behaves like a one 😅 I've read that at this age they have suddenly a great memory od their "baby times" and basically want to be little and be constantly cared of by mummy and carried around again. So cute 🙃
