Hi there! Coming from working with preschool aged children, “big feelings” among this age are very normal! If your son is not yet verbal, I would purchase a feelings chart so that he can express exactly what he’s feeling using pictures. Sometimes it can be anger, sometimes he can be sad, etc. He may also be having these big feelings due to the lack of words and not being able to express himself. Best of luck! 🫶🏼
Our son did that at 2 and stopped at 3 and now almost 4 and he’s back to hitting sometimes when he’s especially upset. It’s easier now to handle because he is more logical as he gets older, but at 2, it’s ALOT of repetition, correction, redirection. Constantly. And it’s exhausting. He most likely won’t stop anytime soon, but just be patient with him. It took a lot of patience with our son. Eventually I started bear hugging him very tightly until he calmed down. Usually he resisted at first, but just keep calm and breathe deeply and they’ll calm down too.
I watch nanny 911 or supernanny so i know tips on how to deal with this. But its relatively normal, terrible 2s
