The name Oscar - but we are not spanish

Help. We love the name Oscar but neither husband or I are spanish. When I looked up the name it actually says it's Irish, but as we all know the name is predominantly used in Spanish speaking countries.

Is it inappropriate for us to use this name?

Be brutally honest

I have never heard of the name Oscar being Spanish before, so I don’t think it’ll be an issue 🤷🏻‍♀️

My nephew is Oscar and I’ve known other kids called Oscar and they’re all white/not Spanish speaking to my knowledge.

I would not have associated it with Spanish at all

My stepdad was born in Mexico then came here to America and married my mother, and his name is Oscar.
Now when I hear or read the name I think of him 😂 in conclusion, you’re fine! I say go for it!!

I knew an Oscar! He was English. Go for it, lovely name 😊

Oscar isn't a Spanish name though. It might be popular in Spanish speaking countries but it has Irish and Norse origins. I'm Finnish and I don't associate it with Spain at all, it's Nordic to me because I think of "Oskar"

definitely overthinking it! I don't think of Oscar as a Spanish name at all. I'm in the UK and loads of boys are named Oscar, it's a lovely name and I wouldn't associate it with Spain. 💙

As a reader of Oscar Wilde, I've never really associated it with being Spanish.

Girl go for it, just a name

As long as you don't spell it O$kA I don't think anyone will bat an eyelid

I personally have never heard of it being Spanish! I know a few Oscar’s who as far as I can tell/know are not Spanish at all.

Loads of people called Oscar in the UK would never associate the name with being Spanish

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
