Nappy rash

My poor little boy is teething so badly, which has meant 5 mucus poos so far today and his bum is red raw. I have been cleaning him with warm water and cotton wool as well as applying sudocrem at every change but he literally screams in pain. What's everyone else using?

Neosporin topped with Vaseline helped my son quickly

@Hannah where are you from? Not sure that neosporin is available in the UK

@Hannah US! It’s just a name brand of antibiotic ointment for cuts scrapes bug bites etc, and some of them come with pain relief.

Try metanium cream it’s the best. Can you also give him some time with his nappy off to let it air? Put a towel underneath in case of accidents.

@Hannah thank you

@Lauren thank you, I'll grab some to try and will do some nappy free time

My little girl also 6 months has been having awful nappy rash, took her to the GP and it's due to the acids in the food because of weaning, I was told vaseline is pointless to use as it just films the skin and rather than creating a barrier is lets the soil from the nappy sit in the skin and coats it to make it worse, we were prescribed an antifungal cream and to use sudocrem or metanium over the top for barrier :)

Sometimes you need to just create a screen over the sores for a day or so to allow the acidy poos to pass. Once they stop you can treat the skin. You can’t do both at once. My little one had big welts. So horrible. Keep doing exactly what you’re doing to clean. But try coat in Vaseline, as thick as you can until you notice a change in the poo. Sometimes the sudocream really stings them!! Good luck mumma it’s such a hard time to see them in pain like this.

Breast milk and petroleum jelly (we use eucerin) had helped us the most for severe diaper rash. I can’t use any zinc oxide creams because of my dogs immune condition so this has helped clear up a bad diaper rash in 48 hours. Milk baths help greatly too

I found Vaseline worked the best for both my girls x

I’ve used a lotttt of different diaper rash creams in my 10 years of childcare and my favorite is tripe paste! Clears up rashes within the day when I apply it with every clean diaper. Hope you find what works best for you!

Also allow to completely dry BEFORE putting on any paste or ointment! Otherwise you are just locking in more moisture ❤️

My little girl had a severe nappy rash, (very severe as it resulted to an open wound) what worked for me was aquaphor, cloth diaper instead of the normal diaper, change every 2 hours and clean with warm water also we had a lot of diaper free, it sounds crazy going diaper free but apparently soreness needs a lot of fresh air.
