Combine breastfeeding and formula

I’m exclusively breastfeeding at the moment, but I’d like to have some bottles so my husband can feed my baby (5 weeks old) if I want a break or if I need to go out or be away for an evening. I’ve tried to express milk but it takes me 3 sessions to have 2 oz.. so I was thinking of buying some ready made formula to use for an odd bottle when I’m out and about. Is there anyone who combine formula and breast milk? Or any suggestions on creating more expressed milk?

Are you pumping right after your nursing sessions? I have found the most success with pumping right after. Look up “triple feeding” it will take a few days to get your supply up to express more. Also make sure you are using a hospital grade pump and pumping for 20-30 min max My babe is 5 months and I just started mixing in one premade formula bottle per day and that’s working as well. I did this because I noticed a drop in my supply and she’s been eating a lot more these days. She’s been taking well to it so could be a great option as well. We are using HIPP stage 1

Yes you can combine them together! I would try to do a 3/4 BM to 1/4 formula combo at first so you don’t upset your babies tummy! After about a week I would go half and half!

Try pumping about 20-30 minutes after bubs feed. I'd also wait until your supply is established before attempting to add bottles. Babe could develop a bottle preference and it could hinder your supply if you wanted to continue breastfeeding.

I combine! Any amount of breast milk is beneficial for baby so keep on pumping mamas. I pump 3-4 oz every 3 hours and i just keep giving formula until he’s full after that

I get the most pumping in the middle of the night when I am feeding on the other side, worth a try!
