Question for the group, what was each day like for you post-surgery? I’m 5 days post-c-section. I’ve had very little pain … until now. Today’s a tough day but it seems odd to have more pain now than first days. So I’m curious to hear your experiences

Are you keeping on top of your pain killers and taking things easy? X

I'm 18 days post c section and still getting pain but taking pain killers. I can't do too much and it's frustrating.

Yea the first couple days, the anesthesia is still in your system dulling things out, it’s when it truly wears off that the pain kicks in. That’s when you make sure to stay on top of your pain meds. Don’t miss any doses. Don’t wait to be in pain to take the next scheduled med.

Days 3-5 were probably the ‘hardest’ pain wise but as long as I stayed on my medication I was still able to function. 2 weeks post now and I have been off all medication for about a week and feel totally normal.

Have you been taking meds for gas pains ? That was the worse part for me was getting the gas out of me.

Peppermint tea really helped with gas pain. I had terrible gas pain that literally felt like labour pains! Drinking peppermint tea really helped to relieve this!

The first 4 days where hell for me. Day 5 was better but u was still in a lot of pain. If I didn't take diahydracodine regularly I was in a lot of pain.

Days 5-10 were excruciating for me. After day 10 it was like a switch and the deep burning pain I felt in the incision vanished. Since then I’ve just been sore but definitely no pain. Day 16 now. I had oxycodone round the clock up until day 6, then went home and moved too much I think, and had paracetamol & ibuprofen mainly with endone once a day for a few days.

@Sophie I backed off because I was feeling so good but now I’m back to the full regimen

@Diana give it a couple of days and you'll be feeling better again, I'd definitely say take your medication religiously for the first 2 weeks at least, even if you feel okay. Take it easy xx

First 10 days were the worst for me too, you really need to make sure to stay on top of your painkillers, set alarms!! As otherwise the pain hits you and it takes a good 30 mins for them to kick back in! Hang in there, it does get better even when it feels it never will! Our body’s are extraordinary x

@Leanne it’s so frustrating! Congrats on your little 18-day kiddo though ❤️

@Amanda so there hope! Lol good to know. Thank you.

@Krizia didn’t know that was a thing

@Ellen yay, I’m at the burning sensation point

@Diana yeah girl! I didn't realize I was having gas pains till I went to the ER afterwards. Feelings like sharp chest and abdominal pains. I thought I was having a heart attack. Gas-x chewables worked best for me.

I was on morphine in the hospital and I was given enough for a week to go home with after then I had killer pain for a few weeks. For the first year after I had reoccurring pain off and on depending on how I moved. X

@Diana I feel for you, it’s such a deep, debilitating pain and I found people weren’t really that understanding. My partner was dismissive and so were the hospital staff. I hope you have some good supports x

@Diana thank you ! Congrats too x

@Amanda a year?! Wow!
