Big comfortable underwear, comfy clothes, bedside snacks and drinks, a sponge to clean wound in the shower, lots of fresh orange juice and prunes to help with PP poo! I loved my c section x

Really big knickers, bigger than you think so they go high above your wound/uterus. I'd suggest some very comfy nighties too. I personally couldn't do Pyjama bottoms. You're feet swell so either slippers in a bigger size or my cross were fine. Still need your pads as you'll still bleed Water bottle with a straw - can keep this on the bed with tou as you'll need to Hydrate svd it's easier than stretching to the water jugs Chewing gum is good to help with your Bowel as you'll get constipated

There is not much you need really for scare care the midwife’s just advice cleaning with water for pain medication you will just be able to take paracetamol and ibuprofen the hospital may also discharge you with some codine they did for me but I didn’t take them. The recovery really isn’t too bad if you keep on top of the pain medication my midwife gave me pain meds every 4 hours and this was 2 paracetamol and 1 ibuprofen at once which kept the pain down at home I did this even if I didn’t feel pain for the first week and half I’m now on week 2 5 days and not taking anything and going on hour walks etc I know everyone is different but stay positive! It’s all worth it when baby is here

I had two quite bad ones and I’d also advise a slide sheet if you can get one. They give you them in hospital and you can ask to take that or just take it (i doubt they can reuse for another patient anyway as it’s unsanitary), or order one on Amazon. It means you can slide around on the sofa/bed rather than engaging your core to readjust. Helps in the early days. Get lots of precooked food in, you’ll want nutrition but ease. Where I am they do these things by a brand called Cook - they are pricey but great quality and store in the freezer.

There’s is a free list for natural birth and c-section in mybabyacademy website :)! You can download it - it’s very helpful There are also free classes too as part of the offer - worth to look at :) X

Make sure you’ve got plenty of paracetamol and ibuprofen, comfy baggy nickers and trousers. 10/10 recommend a cup with a straw makes it a lot easier. the first day you will feel quite sore but honestly that’s the worst of it, just go slow and steady, recover at your own pace just try and move around little and often but don’t strain yourself. You’ve got this mama 💪🏻

Peppermint tea or tablets were a life saver for me as I felt trapped wind in my shoulders

@Alexandra slide sheets are sent to laundry and reused for different patients 😊 (at least in every hospital I've worked in they are)

I wore Always Diapers until I stopped bleeding because they are SUPER comfortable, were for me at least, and then baggy underwear as other people have said. I wore nothing but tracksuits or nice baggy clothes, at home I wore just nightgowns because it was the easiest thing to put on as bending down isn’t the nicest feeling

Big underwear, comfy big clothes, slippers for feet swelling , orange juice and prunes as may be constipated post surgery, peppermint tea helps with this loads. Goodluck!

I really recommend Frida disposable knickers, you can get them from amazon/boots. Lots of rest, fluids and when showering just allow the warm water to run over the scar, don’t use soaps or “wash it” with a sponge as you risk irritating and causing infection, just pat it dry with a separate towel. I loved my c-section but was very lucky with a good recovery x

Disposable net underwear

something i’d 100% recommend is having a nappy caddy kept by your bed for easy access during the day/night/ while in recovery. Just with things like Nappy’s, wipes, snacks, extra baby clothes, any feeding bits you need. etc also agree with everyone else’s advice - don’t be nervous it’s not as bad as your minds making up, you don’t feel any pain, maybe just some pulling and pressure - but it doesn’t work. you’re meeting your baby! that’s a super scary but exciting thing! I also had a c-section at 19 - mine was an emergency and wasn’t a great experience but with a planned c section most hospitals will let you listen to music of your choice and i’ve been told it’s actually a really calm experience. good luck mama!
