I don’t think any medical professionals are going to offer you free advice via a mums APP (due to legalities, different advice in different countries and the fact they don’t know your history)… but if you post your question / story, maybe a mum who’s had a similar experience might be able to help you? Hope you’re ok x

@Tash oh I was afraid of that lol but thank you yes I’m alright I just wondering something for a future pregnancy

What’s your question about future pregnancies? Maybe one of us can help with our past experiences!

@Paige oh thank you I’d appreciate any help… well I had a rough pregnancy and an emergency C-section I know chances of me having a v back is high cause my daughter is 3 now but I was wondering cause I had pre eclampsia pretty bad can that happen again or is it not related to previous pregnancies (c section was not cause of having pre eclampsia)I’m terrified if I had to go through a c section planned or emergency so ig I’m asking is because I had it in one pregnancy does it mean I will get it again the next? If you can answer that thank you

So for reference, my daughter was born via C-section 3 years ago, and I am currently 4 months pregnant. My medical team asked me to have another c-section because I had less than a 30% chance of a successful VBAC. I’m tall & plus sized, so that played a factor. MOST moms with a healthier BMI have about a 60% chance of a success VBAC, which is good! I didn’t have preeclampsia, but I have severe hypertension during birth, so I can’t say how that affects chances, but preeclampsia can happen for anyone at any time. Just because you had it before, doesn’t guarantee a repeat. Are you taking baby aspirin to help prevent preeclampsia? Also, there is a slight chance of the previous scar reopening during labor, not super high, so don’t panic! A planned c section is safer than an emergency one, but VBAC (typically) is the safest option.

@Paige also seemed like baby aspirin didn’t work, I’m terrified even for a planned as I heard people say you can feel the pressure and tugging of them cutting and stuff so idk how I’ll deal with that being awake and all also I for got to add I had a c section because my daughters heart rate dropped I don’t have no health issues

I take 2 baby aspirin, so I would definitely check the amount you’d take. Like I said, preeclampsia is a toss up with no pattern! But as for tugging/pulling, I’m not sure. I was completely under by time my daughter was born. In the beginning I was awake but I have bad anxiety. Ours was a crash C-section that I had less than 10 minutes from consenting to being cut open, so I wasn’t as prepared. I will say though that I felt NOTHING while awake and especially while I was knocked out. As for a planned one, it’s less dangerous and less likely to hurt because it’s just cutting along the same line. It’s also less likely to lose as much blood. Before you even got close to your due date, they would go over your specific chances of a successful VBAC based on your medical history/body type, so you’d be well prepared for the possibilities. I won’t lie, I cried when I found out I had a low chance of a VBAC but just for missing the experience a 2nd time, not of fear.

Oh ok that’s makes me feel a lil better but I’d still hope for a v back my daughter is my first child and I want that experience everything you get with a vaginal birth I didn’t get none of that so I would hope it wouldn’t come back that’s what I was afraid of that it would like as if it was a genetic type thing lmao 🤣

Nope, not genetic, just luck of the draw unfortunately. But I 100% know what you mean about wanting to experience it, especially after your first birth being a C-section. Like I said, a VBAC can be a very realistic thing for lots of moms! It’s definitely a discussion to have with your medical team either way to best prepare.

@Paige yes I definitely will when the time comes I just wanted to hear other experiences thank you for taking your time I rlly appreciate it 😊

Of course! I hope that I was able to give a little peace of mind either way.
