Mine was such a relief the minute they did it and I was absolutely fine afterwards. I needed it as they were doing an episiotomy and forceps. I’d had no pain relief until then
I had an epidural with my first baby but although dulled the pain I could still feel it so they gave me a spinal block for my emergency c section. Couldn't feel a thing pretty much instantly and lasted for about 3 hours.
I had an epidural 20 hours into established labour when my body went into dehydration and starvation mode. It wasn’t the birth I had wanted and I was reluctant to take the epidural. What happened after was brilliant, the epidural worked well, I was able to eat, drink, get some rest and the most important bit that made all the difference was that I was able to laugh, chat and joke with my partner and the midwifery team. These moments became fun and I will remember and cherish. Best of luck with your birth xx
I had a spinal block with my first baby, for a c section. Although it wasn’t the birth I wanted. The spinal block itself was great and worked well. After surgery had feeling back very quickly. Xx
