NHS process?

M first time mum to be and very new in UK. I am 8weeks now. Can someone help me in understanding the NHS involvement. Till now no one from NHS including my GP has scheduled appointment with me. Is it the same for everyone? A little help in understanding further steps will be appreciated

You need to call the GP and they should tell you which midwife trust to contact so that you can book your “Booking Appointment” - usually around 8 weeks. If your pregnancy is low risk, you will get midwife led care throughout and won’t need to see the dr

Hello, I am experiencing a similar journey. My GP referred me to my local midwife unit. I had to complete this online self referral form. I was contacted a few days later to setup the app “badger notes” as maternity records are paperless and was told someone would be in contact within 10 weeks to see me for a first appointment. If you don’t hear anything by your 10th week do contact your local GP or midwife team

Self referral on the nhs website. A quick Google will bring it up After this you should get a phonecall appt to sort your booking appt which will then be around 9/10 weeks then they'll book your dating scan for 12/13 weeks. From there they'll book your midwife appointments. Depending on your area you may use 'badger notes' which is basically an online app that has your appointments and notes on Early days you don't see or speak to many people until your booking and dating scan x

Thanks all. This was helpful. 👍👍

I’m 5 weeks and have just had my booking appointment booked via a midwife. It does depend on the trust how they do it though

The moment I found out (3+5) I called my GP, who sent me the link to the closest maternity hospital. I then did my self referral, they called me back from the Hospital 9 days later and I had my first appointment at 6+5. The midwife literally said that if my blood test and all were normal, she would not call me and we would meet again for the 12week scan. So this to say that no news, good news

Depends where about your based, cause there is also a website that I have to use called 'pregnancy notes' so I'm not sure what the hospital you'll be under uses, or if they do at all. Double check this. If you inform your GP, you're pregnant, then they can give you advice and go from there. You could also check the closest maternity hospital website and see if you could self-refer yourself before phoning the GP. Up to you.
