How to keep baby entertained

I’m running out of ideas to keep my LO entertained at home 😫 - he gets bored of the playmat after 15mins - we do some reading - plays with a toy keyboard and wooden box But he doesn’t sleep much during the day at all I don’t know how to keep him entertained without the TV

Try having him watch you do some chores round the house. You can chat him through what you're doing and show him items you're using, like wave a t-shirt around if you're doing laundry, or make some noise with cutlery if you're doing dishes. Gives you the bonus of getting things done without having to wait till he's sleeping x

Rondas pretty much summed it up there, I just want to add If he can sit assisted get a sit-and-play and give him an item of what you're doing, so if you're doing laundry give him a sock, or if you're doing dishes a plastic cup or a sponge and some water you've got some sensory play there too

Narrate to baby what you’re doing around the house! If I’m washing up or sorting clothes I show her what I’m doing and chat about it. Another thing we’ve introduced recently is stacking cups and blocks and stuff during playtime, she’s learned we stack them and she can knock them over and then she spends ages intrigued by trying to pick them up and put them back in a tower! Musical toys are good too! We have a xylophone we’ve been showing her how to play with since 2ish months and now she’s able to hold the stick and spends ages giggling and whacking it to make sounds. Texture play is another good one, stick them in a seat and give them things of different textures to examine, brightly coloured tissue paper is GREAT (just make sure they don’t eat it lmao) and fabric bits, beanie baby type toys too for the textures. My LO is the same she doesn’t nap much during the day so it’s really hard to keep her engaged. We’ve introduced watching old kids shows during the day too, so we’ll—

— sit and watch bear in the big blue house or old Winnie the Pooh and stuff and I’ll chat to her about what she sees, making sure she looks at me as well as the tv so her primary focus isn’t JUST tv. Songs are good too, I sing to LO and just play music while she’s just chilling in her bouncer and that’s also great for development!
