I was in the hospital for 10 days and didn't bathe him for another couple weeks iirc, and even then we only do weekly still. I found just doing a top and tail wash on the mat easier to start with, or a quick one if he ever got sweaty. So far worked out really well and no skin issues. 😊
I waited until the belly button was dry till I bathed baby and put a bit of breast milk on it to help with healing!!
We were advised to not bath baby until his cord fell off, but we waited a little longer which was about 3 weeks. We washed him with cotton pads and water before we started to bath him though
@Briony Ooo I didn’t know you could do that! I have some colostrum saved so may put that on it then x
Thank you all!X
I bathed with the cord still on and then a couple of days afterwards and now sometimes every night sometimes every other depending on how she’s being. Her cord healed beautifully
We bathed around a week but kept the belly button out of the water, and just used a washcloth. Tip that worked for us: we put our towels in the dryer to warm them while she was bathing, then after the bath, she had fuzzy warm towels to snuggle into and loved it 💜
@Kyraleigh just syringe it straight on. You don’t need to pat it in. X
I bathed before the cord fell off as it's what I was advised, it fell off the day after... He was 3 weeks old which is why I was told to just bath him 😂 but yes, as soon as it comes off you can bath baby as long as you pat the area around the bellybutton dry rather than rubbing it
