Lip tie?

Does anyone know if this is a lip tie and if so what it would effect? My baby wouldn’t breastfeed and can’t keep a pacifier in so I’m trying to figure out why

Yes, that’s a lip tie. It could affect breastfeeding. I don’t know about the pacifier though.

Looks like it, only a pediatric dentist can confirm. Both of those issues are caused by ties, later in life it can affect speech, lisps, and teeth issues

I agree with the above- my son had a lip tie impacting breast feeding and a tongue tie impacting his paci. The ENT confirmed and corrected both issues same day in about 10 min

Yup mine had it. He didn’t latch well and I had to pump. He also can’t keep a pacifier in but loves it anyways.

So all babies have tissue connecting lip and tongue to mouth! Some have thicker tissue where it can present a problem, causing feeding issues, speech development, and sleep/breathing problems. I would get the tie assessed by a lactation consultant and pediatric dentist specializing in frenectomies! My son had 3rd degree lip and tongue tie and had to have it removed at 2 weeks old. It dramatically improved his nursing ability!

The part you're holding, per our ent, isn't a big deal but can cause a gap that can be fixed with braces... But my son has it and he doesn't have any gaps in his teeth sooooo... Not a big deal.
