Irregular periods & breastfeeding

I've had my period back since about 10 months postpartum and have always exclusively breastfed. My son just turned two last week and was sleeping through the night for two weeks and would just nurse when he woke up for a little. He's been waking up more again and needing it at night, I'm letting him wean himself, but last month I had a super heavy period while this month it was so light and sporadic. Has anyone else had these irregular issues? Last month it was a few days late, this month on time. And has been mostly regular with about 28/29 days apart but every month I'm not sure if it will be light or heavy. Asked my Dr a few months ago and she said it's all cause of breastfeeding, but I feel like I going crazy!!

Remember when you have a period you’re switching I think it’s your ovaries? So one may just have a heavier period than the other it’s normal. Before I had kids my period would be like that too

@Natalya oh wow I didn't know this!

It definitely could be because of breastfeeding but I feel like at this stage it wouldn't be causing the light then heavy period but take what I say with a grain of salt because at the end of the day I'm not a medical provider. I found some books by Alyssa Vitti- she is an obgyn and founder of cycle synching " women code"and "cycle synching" are her books. And essentially she speaks to how our hormones impact each phase of our cycle and why. She also goes into detail about irregular or missed periods. Ever since following her protocol my periods have been regular and "normal".
