High blood pressure

I'm 36 weeks (almost 37) and my blood pressure has been higher during my last two doctor visits. My OB was having me monitor my blood pressure on my own this week and today was the highest it's ever been so I called L&D and they ended up having me come in. All bloodwork came back normal thankfully but my blood pressure remained high after a couple of hours. They're having me come back tomorrow to test it again. They also said that if it continues to stay elevated they may induce later this week at 37 weeks due to risk of preeclampsia. Has anyone experienced anything like this? It feels like it all came on so suddenly when I was not having any prior complications during my whole pregnancy.

I am right there with you. I had great BP up until ~36 weeks, I'm 37 now. I get 2 non stress tests a week just so they can keep an extra eye. My BP was 138/88 today. They said if I hit 150/100 they will have me deliver earlier. I'll be induced on 11/6 for now. The stress and lack of sleep is not helping the BP either. I'm just trying to stay calm and carry on. I'm so there with you. I think it's because I'm pretty small and my babe is growing fast now and it's that final countdown. Sending calming thoughts your way 🤍

I had this with last pregnancy at 37 was but didn’t with this pregnancy. My mother in law and sister in law had it with one baby and not with others too. My water broke after a few days of high blood pressure. Ya it was overnight was totally fine and then at checkup they caught it. Mine goes down a bit with a relaxing bath and staying off my feet but honestly there was nothing I could do after water broke it was time to meet baby

Thank you both for your input! đź’• Did either of your doctors recommend if it's better to exercise or to only rest? I'm curious what might help.

Also, did either of you get put on blood pressure medication?

I was taking propranolol before pregnancy, mostly for anxiety. It's a BP med as well. I'm having anxiety this trimester now that I'm nearing the end and always worried about my overall health. I asked my doctor if I could take it for anxiety because I stopped this whole pregnancy. My doctor recommended not to take it though because she doesn't want to mask preeclampsia symptoms if it does happen to develop. They did not recommend any BP meds. They didn't talk to me about bed rest either. My BP spikes with my anxiety so it's hard to differentiate it sometimes from preeclampsia symptoms. I still stay active and go for walks. I also have been meditating more to calm BP and HR, reminding myself that everything will be ok no matter the outcome. They basically said just come to the hospital if I start having preeclampsia symptoms or BP over 150/100. They want the baby to stay in at least 39 weeks.

No I wasn’t put on any meds. They kind of were like we have no idea what caused it. Just monitor it and come in if it spikes. They recommended rest with high blood pressure. Taking bath, taking pressure at heart level again after relaxing for an hour see if it goes down
