Just curious, if you had an epidural, was baby super sleepy after birth? (E.g. wouldn't stay awake to feed).

Not sure if it had anything to do with epidural or if it was to do with antibiotics or something else... 🤷‍♀️ Pregnant again and just considering options...

Mine was yeah….but I put it down to the painkillers they gave me. I bf and I think it was coming through my milk and made her too sleepy to feed so I cut them completely and the difference was night and day. Could have also been the epidural if that’s a thing? I didn’t know it could do that!

I had the epidural and antibiotics.. my baby was very alert and bright eyed from the beginning so much so everyone commented on how awake he was for a newborn baby so I’d say maybe a coincidence but every baby reacts to things differently as with everything x

@Yasmin did your baby have antibiotics too?

My baby had jaundice which made her super sleepy, but it took days to get it taken seriously as it was only mild at first.

Babies are so tired after being born. They work hard during labour too. Antibiotics wouldn't affect the sleepiness, painkillers at most but if your labour was long baby was likely quite tired too.

@Kate haha I forget about the jaundice too! Thanks for reminding me. Lots of different factors isn't there. 😊
