Does anyone get this joke?

Manager (who speaks English): There's too much butter on those trays. [ Manager points to three small trays of butter in turn when he says 'on',:'those' and 'trays'.] Waiter (who happens to be Spanish): No,no. You should say it like this: uno, dos, tres. ( I love this joke but people look at me blank. It's from the old comedy Fawlty Towers)

The joke plays on how the numbers 1,2,3 in Spanish (uno, dos, tres) sound like 'on, those, trays'.

It’s probably funnier to watch than to read

Haha

But I also love Fawlty towers. I think it's funner if you know both Spanish and English. A few japanese anime have jokes like these were you need to know both Japanese and English to get it.

@Emily completely agree. I enjoyed learning Spanish at schoool

Aha I remember watching this at school. I found it hilarious

As soon as I started to read it I knew exactly where you got it from 🤣🤣 one of my faves x

Oh my goodness. After you explained it's pretty funny 🤦🏾‍♀️

The Spanish guy thinks he is trying to count the 3 trays he is pointing at in Spanish as they sound 'similar' Plate 1 - on (uno) Plate 2 - those (dos) Plate 3 - trays (tres)
