Yeah my son lines his toys up on the radiator I didn't no that was a sign he also lines up his juice bottles milk cartons what ever he can find. Yeah my son flaps his hands when he's excited and will jump up and down on the spot also. My HV also put on an assessment that he has respective actions but not to sure what. And he's just recently eye glancing aswell which I read could be a sign. He absolutely loves splashing water aswell weather it's a puddle or a tap running the hose pipe ect
@Kirsty my son also side glances and has done for a while. I’ve noticed these signs in him for a good 6 months at least. If you’re concerned, maybe you could speak to your HV again?
Hey lovely my little one is awaiting his autism assessment, he also has referrals for speech and language therapy and dietician. Some of the signs I believe were: Sensitivity to loud noises - he holds his ears a lot. Constant closing of the eyes due to overstimulation. Avoids other children and prefers to play on his own. Lines toys up in order and has a meltdown if they are moved. Has an obsession with wheels - hyper fixation. Flaps hands and spins in circles. Has speech delay, makes lots of sounds but no real words. Fussy eater - struggles with textures and won’t try new foods. Struggles with eye contact. Shakes his head from side to side. Walks on his tiptoes. These are just some of the signs I picked up on x
Call it mothers intuition but I've known since birth my son isn't a 'textbook baby'. Hes never been settled and sleep has always been an issue. We have no words at 26m apart from "hair" as my hair is his comfort and he holds it at any given moment, like a sensory thing too as he fiddles with it in-between his fingers. Flaps and shakes when excited. Walks on tiptoes. HATES any new shoes or clothes. His diet is basically skips and Raspberries (which I worry about constantly). He hates busy, loud environments and we've recently had to swap a nursery morning to a more quiet one. Basically his temperament and behaviour have always pointed to some sort of neurodiverency. I finally contacted my HV in June at 22m as I was sick of everyone telling me to just wait it out. We are still waiting for a hearing test and they told us to put him in nursery as nhs need an assessment from outside the home. Basically long story short we've been told he's just too young to be diagnosed x
My son has been referred to speech and language( no speech whatsoever) and for an autism assessment. He puts anything in his mouth, spins in circles, flaps his hands, jumps up and down on the spot, lines toys/food up, doesn’t sleep great (wakes up in the early hours and then that’s him up for the day). He also prefers to play alone and away from loud environments. The health visitor advised due to all of this, she would refer him for the assessment. I’ve also got a meeting about a my support plan too but not sure what to expect
