Consultant appointment

Looking for people’s experiences with their consultant appointment. Had mine today at 32 plus 1, I’m consultant led but haven’t seen a consultant up until this point which I’m not sure if that’s normal as this is my first baby. I waited over 2 hours for the phone call for the consultant to then ask me why I was having a consultant appointment? I was a bit confused because surely she should tell me / know. I am electing for a c section so I thought this was why I was seeing a consultant, she asked me why I was electing which I said because I have an overactive vegus nerve which causes me to pass out when I am anxious or when I am in pain so this is the best option for me. She did not discuss the c section in any detail, she just sent me a form to consent to having a c section. She would not give me any information on c section dates, glazed over any questions I had about the c section & im now left feeling more anxious than I was before. Has anyone else had a negative experience, I genuinely want to complain as I don’t feel as though I got the service I should have & I felt like she just wanted to get me off the phone. I feel more anxious than ever. I had so many questions written down to ask but didn’t even bother as she was ignoring my questions, I mentioned that I had a sesame allergy and she said oh so you have a nut allergy and I was was like no? Like it’s really not left me with any confidence!

So sorry you had a bad experience. I did too a few days ago. My first consultant appointment which was actually at 17 weeks, I said I wanted to be induced at 39 weeks. She said that's no problem at all and she would induce everyone at 39 weeks if she could, so I thought great they're on board. Had another consultant a few days ago (32 weeks) and mentioned the induction (which is the only reason I'm consultant led???) and she was trying to put me off the idea saying she would never recommend induction for a healthy pregnancy. I said the last consultant said I needed to decide on dates and method etc so I've been researching, and she said no no no it goes to the board and they decide???? I'm just hoping I see the first consultant next time. But I won't be swayed. I think you just have to be really strong and advocate for yourself and educate yourself as much as possible. The mixed messages are really hard to deal with though and so unhelpful. I hope you get to see someone else ♥️

I had a consultant appointment as they are monitoring the growth of baby (she on bigger side) I asked about birth options and he said “speak to your midwife” I tried to discuss other options than just natural birth and her response was “we only do that in case of emergency”

From the research that I’ve done if they decline you a c section they have to signpost you to someone who will

I would 100% complain and ask to speak to someone else in relation to your request for a section. It may be that they don’t discuss birth options till a later apt but sounds like the consultant was just downright bloody rude. Really pisses me off when you go to an apt as well and they ask you why you’re there or for details you’ve already given someone 10 times. Not sure I would have been able to bite my tongue. Defo flag this up, you deserve better x
