Nail biter

My daughter is biting her nails until they’re bleeding. Any advice?

I was a nail biter as a kid. When I reached muddle school I wanted to have nice nails like all my friends and get them painted n stuff. I found this nail polish that looked yelloe/tan in the bottle but painted on mostly clear. It was soooo bitter that I couldn't even lick wing sauce off my fingers without tasting it. I'm not sure about putting that on a 2 year old. Maybe redirect or paint her nails with something she likes so she won't want it to come off? Me not being told to stop or have anyone pointing it out to me played a large part in my being able to stop. My best friend who was a year younger used to get punished for it and things turned out very different with her

Do you bite your nails? I do and have since I was a child, it’s a horrible habit that I can’t kick. My daughter has picked it up from me 😩 it’s not so bad that it’s bleeding, but she does it daily. I’m really trying to work on modeling stopping so that she follows suit. I tell her not to bite her nails and encourage her to tell me the same if she catches me doing it! I’ve also tried explaining that when we put our hands in our mouth we get germs in our mouths and we get sick! But I really don’t have much advice because I’m 32 years old and still do it 😅

My daughter sometimes does it, just recently, but it’s more when they are getting long and start to chip. If I cut them short she won’t… so maybe try to keep them trimmed?
