Halloween

Not my MIL per se but this is about my husband. Him and his family are against Halloween and trick-or-treating. I grew up always going as a kid and loved it, and still do. He doesn’t agree with me about taking them but I really want to. I told him I’m going to go and he said that it’ll be me who will listen to his parents give me an earful about it, but I mean they’re my kids not theirs?…. My son loves everything spooky and even says he wants to go trick or treating (he’s 2). Am I wrong?

in my opinion no, but you should try to do a 50/50 negotiating like one year you go, one year you don’t. or i guess do those trunk or treats! the kids can still dress up & have fun. idk its always good to find a middle ground

Halloween was my favorite holiday as a kid. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it and taking your kids trick or treating is such a fun thing for everyone. Would you keep your kid out of a sport or play or hobby because your in-laws didn't like it?

Well of your husband have a problem with Halloween, I would try to understand his point and try to make a middle point somewhere between him and me. Now if it's his family who have a problem with it, I wouldn't even care. Not a little bit. It's none of their business.

In my opinion you’re not wrong. If you want to take your kids trick or treating that’s your choice. This is yours and your partners family not his and his parents family he’s no longer a child if he doesn’t wanna attend then he should be ok with you taking the kids. Trick or treating is part of growing up and being a kid it’s apart of the festivities of being a kid. Let the kids be kids for crying out loud

Thank you all, I ended up just taking the kids and my husband was ok with it after he knew how much they had fun
