Mom shamed by hospital nurse

I took my LO to the ER early this morning. She was gasping with every breath and wouldn’t take a bottle. We took her ave that’s where they told us she has croup. The ER nurse that does the initial work up told me that I needed to pay better attention to my child because if I did I would have known that it wasn’t anything too serious because she wasn’t having rib retractions. I felt about as big as a grain of rice. When we got back to the room the ER doctor told us that we did the right thing by bringing her in. I can’t shake the feeling that we might have overreacted because of the way that nurse spoke to us.

Sounds like the nurse forgot that not everyone has medical training and knows the difference between serious/not serious gasping. Don't let it get to you, it's always the right thing to take them in if you're not sure, you never know

Make a complaint! Horrible bitch! I also took my LB to the GP yesterday because of his breathing and cough, he also has croup! He wasn’t retracting but when their breathing is affected then I think it’s vital to be seen! You did the right thing ☺️ they gave my LB steroids x
