@Bee it happens I’d say 7/10 times he ejaculates in me. It doesn’t have to be constantly, we could go a month in between but the semen inside just creates this fishy smell. I know it can lead to bv but it’s not actually bv, the smell completely goes after a day once it’s cleared out and there’s no other symptoms
I noticed a fishy smell when my ex didn’t eat healthy and he smoked. So, his semen smelled sour and was clumpy. My current bf eats healthy and I make sure I’m healthy too. We don’t have any problems
Has he been checked out for any sti’s? Just wondering if might be connected
It could definitely be his semen throwing your ph off
He doesn’t ejaculate in me unless we are TTC which was like, 5yrs ago 😂 semen throws off vag PH balance and I’m not risking UTI/thrush/BV
Fishy is an infection. Unless you’ve had a culture sent to a lab, you most likely have recurring BV. 7/10 times is way too much lol
@Mia @Emma my partner is a bodybuilder and eats the healthiest I’ve ever known, so that wouldn’t be the problem. He semen also doesn’t have any bad or weird smell etc. he doesn’t have any stis etc and he’s extremely clean. It literally is just a case that when he finishes inside after a few hours it leaves a fishy smell. After a day it will then be completely gone and back to normal. So definitely no bv (also been tested and no bv). I know it’s just throwing off the ph and the fluids mixing/semen just sitting in there for a while but thought other women would have experience this too?
That has happened to me before buuut it was BV. 😩 Sometimes it requires another panel because it might not have been enough on their swab to detect it the first time. Side note they make these little swabs that are meant to absorb the fluids after sex. I’ve never tried them but I remember seeing an ad for them a while back 😆
I think it's definitely BV lol.
@Mia clumpy?!😭😭🤮
Yes girl, this happened with my ex every single time and it was BV 90% of the time. Genuinely awful, I had no idea what it was until I left him but it never happened with any of my exes before him.
Sounds like BV. My partners sperm always causes me to get BV, it fucks up the ph balance. I don’t get it any other time, only when he cums inside me. Does it for a lot of people. Speak to your GP, for me we always use a condom but when we were trying and couldn’t I used Balance Activ at night before bed which helped. Unfortunately I’ve found myself that treatment for BV from the doctor doesn’t help in the long run, as BV is something that often just reoccurs and it’s the root cause that needs to be treated which is the sperm, so condoms it is.
I know everyone is saying bv and I get it, a fishy smell usually definitely does mean bv. But it is NOT bv. I have had multiple swabs done in the past. It does not last, after a day the smell is gone. There is no other symptoms or discharge or irritation etc. it is literally the smell of the semen in me after it’s been in there a few hours until it’s full cleared out. I really didn’t think I’d be the only one that experiences this 😩I have had bv a few times before (caused by other things) and I always had multiple symptoms/iritation and discharge etc and the only thing that worked to clear it was antibiotics. This is nothing like that and doesn’t require anything and the smell will be gone by itself in a day
Definitely think it’s a PH thing. Use a woman’s probiotic and hopefully that helps you out!

Do you pee after sex?
@Danielle yes clumpy 😭😭
Semen doesn’t agree with the natural pH of your vagina because our vaginas are acidic and semen is alkaline. It can cause you to be thrown off completely and smell weird, but a fishy odor is an infection. Your vagina can smell fishy for other reasons, but those are worse than BV. Also BV doesn’t cause irritation like a yeast infection does. Many women don’t know they have it or never properly treat it, so it keeps coming back. It’s not uncomfortable so much as it is smelly
Yeah I had the same, sometimes it would literally last for a day, sometimes it turned into a full infection. It’s normal for it to throw it off
Shower after and wash out immediately. Also I know this prob isn’t recommended but I’ll sometimes use a tampon to “clean” after
Probably down to his diet 🤷🏾♀️ Ahhh, you've mentioned he's a body builder. Does he take vitamins and protein powder and all the stuff? It could be that stuff🤔 Does it smell less pungent when he consumes less supplements?
@Anais can I ask how that would have any effect at all?
I literally have the exact same. No irritation, no discharge, no discomfort. Just smells fishy after sex. I was diagnosed as BV caused by the semen upsetting the PH balance. I don’t have it unless I have sex without a condom. Like I said in my first comment I use. Balance Activ gel to restore the correct PH or condoms.
@Monét sort of like how when we eat pineapple out fluids may taste sweeter or when you eat asparagus your pee smells stronger. I'm not sure which pills or protein or whatever may be causing it but I think I've noticed when my partner takes less pills after we've had sex I don't smell as strong down there. Then he starts taking supplements again and the smell comes back. It's only ever been with him. So I know it's coming from him in some way. We hadn't had sex for a fairly long time (months) and I noticed I was back to my regular smell. He's super fit and is into healthy eating so I assume it comes from something he's putting into his body. it's not my normal smell. Apparently eating/living poorly can make sperm horrid so is assume it works both ways. 🤷🏾♀️
@Anais he doesn’t take protein powders or supplements like the usual bodybuilders, he’s completely natural and consumes all his protein from meat sources and poultry (mainly chicken/beef/eggs) and eats a lot of vegetables. Definitely not an issue with him or his diet. His semen doesn’t have a weird or different smell at all, and what he eats doesn’t impact the smell or not, it’s just something I have always had since I first lost my virginity to him 9 years ago
@Monét I agree it throws off our ph balance definitely that’s what I’m experiencing. But it’s definite not bv or an infection. I’ve had multiple swabs done over the years when experiencing this which were negative. I have also experienced actual bv quite a few times before which were caused by other things and every time I actually had bv I always experienced the irritation and discharge, not just the fishy smell, which is how I know when I have bv and then get antibiotics to treat it. For example, he finishes inside me the night before last, yesterday I had a fishy smell all day but today now it’s gone 🤷🏽♀️ it literally just smells while it’s ’clearing out’ if you know what I mean
@Rebecca yes I have actually tried using balance active gel pessary at night after having sex just to avoid the awkward smell the next day 😆 not because I actually need it. But we don’t use condoms and don’t really need to as I have the coil
Ohhh right. Is it maybe what you're washing your body or knickers with? Try cotton knickers and natural body washes. Could it be something you're eating. If I eat dairy I produce more discharge (the normal stuff) 🤔 Do you drink plenty of water?
Constantly being ejaculated in can throw your PH balance off which can also lead to BV.
