Food

My 18month old son had suddenly started to throw his food everywhere instead of eating it, ( he used be fantastic at eating his food despite he hadn’t figured out cutlery yet now he barely touches it) this happens at every meal time and it’s really starting to stress me out cos I’m concerned he’s not eating enough aswell as the mess and waste of food it’s really starting to get to me and I don’t know what to do is this normal or is there something I should be concerned about?

Totally normal. Mine is now 3 and still does it. I just give lots and lots and lots of options for food. Think buffet or tapas style. Let him pick what he wants. Also give an empty bowl and show him that whatever he doesn't wnat he can throw in empty bowl. Also use food for messy play. He wants to touch and feel and make a mess and explore. So take food and create a buffet but just for play time. He can try and eat too but those are for playing, squashing, throwing etc.

My son is the same infact we don't feed him in a highchair he hates it,,, we have a mat on the floor and honestly .... I give him his food in a bowl/ plate he launches it on the floor and puts it into a line and then eats it,,, he was prem at 24wks so we guess it could be an autism thing ( he's never been tested) or just him exploring x

We have an extra bowl we call the scrap bowl for her to put bits of food in instead of throwing n seems to really help! She sometimes goes back to it at thr end n eats more to!

Very normal. My daughter drove me mad doing it! Now 2.5, and it has (almost!) stopped.
