Cups and cutlery

Is your 19/20 month old using cups and cutlery yet? Mine isn't, any tips would be greatly appreciated 🥰 thanks

My 14 month old uses both, he's better with a fork, but can drink independently with an open cup but mostly use sippy cups. You can get things like the doidy cup or teeny cup to help with drinking. Cutlery try chunky handled stuff as its easier to hold, you can also try putting the food on the spoon/fork and handing it to them until they get used to the idea

We are still on sippy cups or straw cups. He gets soaked using an open cup. We actually practice using an open cup at bath time. By giving him a proper cup, filling it from the tap. Saves the mess until he can manage. I have just purchased metal cutlery for my little boy. The rubber and plastic ones made it more difficult for him and he would get frustrated. The metal ones(plastic handles) have already allowed him to improve his technique.

Fine with all cutlery but can’t drink from an open cup. I am not worried though, how many adults do you know what don’t know how to drink from a cup or use cutlery?

My daughter uses cutlery and drinks from an open cup. She’s just practiced for a long time and her dislike of getting dirty hands has definitely spurred her into learning 😂 we found the kids ikea cutlery has helped as the forks are quite spiky and good at actually getting the food!

My boy isn't either, I still keep offering him cutlery though. He tries to drink out of an open cup if your holding it but will move away before the drink gets anywhere near his mouth.. if he's holding it it just gets chucked

My LO can drink from an open cup with assistance, if she’s alone, she will just spill the water everywhere. She can drink from a sippy cup independently As for cutlery, she can use a spoon and fork but she prefer to play with it and eat with her hands 🤷‍♀️
