Anxious about birth

Super worried that something bad might happen, does anyone feel similar? I’m excited but then I overthink everything and get overwhelmed. Any advice??

Something bad could happen at any point in life doing anything! Hold on to your excitement and take it one day at a time. Once you’re in it, you’re in it - there’s no stopping it lol do you have a birth preferences plan?

My plan is a waterbirth if possible. I’ve been practising hypnobirthing and happy to accept gas and air. ☺️ I’m also happy to have anything else if best for baby and me.

Beyond anxious because with my first I had a smooth pregnancy and then labor went all wrong . Meconium in waters, no progression, HR going high. Nothing was working. Ended in an emergency section. Now I'm looking forward to a VBac but thinking I should change my mind to a section. I know not all births are rhe same but yep I'm anxious .

My suggestion would be: learn as much as you can about the process of birth, what the different interventions are and why they’d be offered, and different forms of pain management. I think education and information can help alleviate some anxiety. Don’t go down the rabbit hole of learning all the ways things can go wrong. Part of having a smooth labor is you feeling safe and you won’t if you’re thinking about all the what if’s. I’d suggest checking out Mama Nurse Tina (YT and IG), Built to Birth/Bridget Taylor (YT), Doc and Doula (YT, IG, and podcast). While I never read it, the book Spiritual Midwifery was recommended to me for a collection of positive birth stories. I did all this, and I hired a doula and I had a beautiful, unmedicated birth experience. It wasn’t euphoric, but I also wasn’t in agony either. Nothing is guaranteed, but do the best you can with what you have. Labor is a mental game and any prep you do is never wasted and will help you cope regardless!
