Question

Can anyone please explain to me what happens at your 41 week OB appointment? And how long after you’re 41 weeks will you be offered to be induced? Feel like I’m not gonna have my baby on or around my due date and just don’t know what to expect after I’m 40 weeks

I think this totally depends on who you get. My midwife said she would just explain the options. (Like types of induction or waiting) Some people will get more of a “we will book you in for your induction on this day” and it won’t feel like a choice. I’d think about what you want and go in ready to hear what they have to say, but not necessarily be swayed by it. You can ask for extra checks if you’re worried but unless there is a clear medical reason, you don’t need to be induced.

@Cayleigh I think I’d want to be induced though like I’ve honestly just had enough and I originally was told I wouldn’t be going over 40 weeks anyway due to ivf but apparently those rules have changed so I don’t know

My midwife said she had one woman go 4 weeks + 4 days over her due date and all was fine!! The due date is an estimate and really we should be given a date range of likely labour. Like sometime between 39 & 41 you’ll likely go into spontaneous labour. After all the due date is mainly based on a guess of when you ovulated! That guess could be 2/3 weeks out!!!
