Tummy time & crawling

My little one has always HATED tummy time, from day 1. We have tried to incorporate it into his day but he ends up very upset and crying (even more so after learning to sit up and preferring this position). He’s now 7.5 months old and is not showing any signs of crawling, which is no surprise given that he is not on his tummy that often. I’m now really worried about his development and he will be far behind hitting the next milestones of crawling etc. Has anyone gone through anything similar and has any advice to get LO to like tummy time??

Crawling is a 9 l+ month milestone, you absolutely shouldn’t be worried about him having no signs of it at 7.5 months! Enjoy the peace lol

I sang and danced (with super exaggerated movements) during tummy time, both on the floor and while baby was on the bed or changing table. I also put baby in the carrier rather than the stroller cause she hated the stroller, but this actually helped her strengthen her neck muscles

We saw a paediatrician last week and I shared my concerns about the LO not liking being on a tummy. He said it’s just a preference and we should not be forcing her to do something she is not enjoying. She loves siting and can shuffle around on her bum and now started putting herself in a crawling position from the seated position so I think if she starts crawling she will do that from the seated position not tummy 😀

My baby doesn’t like tummy time either and will only stay on her tummy briefly. I’m fairly confident she’ll still crawl but probably later and currently has no interest!

My first baby hated tummy time to the point she would have screaming horrendous fits if left longer than 1 minute 🙈 she sat up from 5 months and still learnt to crawl at 9 months so I honestly wouldn’t worry My second baby however loves being on her tummy and has no signs of sitting up actually hates being sat up so they are all just completely different and develop at different stages 🫶

My little one hates tummy time and will roll off to his back as soon as I put him on his tummy. However, he's recently started to try to get on all fours from sitting so tried putting him on all fours instead of tummy time and he quite enjoys it.
