Baby Coco? šŸ©·

We are pregnant with a baby girl and are set on the name Coco, however have had some mean comments from a few people about it. What are your thoughts? Last name is Taylor if it helps!

All that matters is that you like the name. If other peopleā€™s opinions will affect you to the point it puts you off a name I can understand asking but otherwise Iā€™d just go with what you want, itā€™s not up to anyone else! No matter what name you choose there will always be someone that has something to say x

I think it's cute as a nickname. Ultimately it's your choice, don't be swayed by other people.

I also think Itā€™s really cute as a nickname. My only concern would be whether she would be taken seriously when sheā€™s a bit older and applying for jobs or introducing herself to people when sheā€™s trying to be taken seriously. I know people shouldnā€™t judge people based on their names but unfortunately thereā€™s a lot of unconscious bias in the world, especially towards women. If itā€™s something youā€™re worried about then you could go with a name such as Chloe, Cora, Colette, Corrine, Coleen, Courtney, or Nicole, and then shorten it to Coco? That way it gives her the option to use her full name in certain situations. Of course, if you donā€™t care about peoples opinions then just go with the name you both love!

Itā€™s not for me, as I thought it sounds like a dogs name - but what does my opinion matter šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø go for it if you both like it!

If you like it don't listen to others. We named our son Logan and where I'm from it's a car named that way so we always get mean comments from family. But whatever, we like it and we don't care it's our child

I think itā€™s so cute and if you love it, I love it

I like it as a nickname, but not as her full legal name. Thats just my opinion

Coco just sounds like a nickname to me and when kids get a huge knot or bump on their head we use to call it a Coco as it resembled a coconut. It's your choice if you like it go for it.

My little girls middle name is coco

Cute as a nickname but not as a first name

I donā€™t like it

Personally I like it, unusual but not completely bonkers. You will always have opinions good and bad because we all like/love different things. I donā€™t think anyone elseā€™s opinion should sway you either way. Letā€™s face it agreeing on a baby name with your partner is hard work enough. X

I canā€™t help just thinking coco pops which is cute as a child but as a serious, professional adult (if thatā€™s their choice In life) ā€¦..

Coco is super cute! It doesnā€™t matter what others think, itā€™s your baby šŸ’• Nowadays plenty of people have unique names, itā€™s really not a big deal!

Itā€™s cute, but like previous comments it sounds like a nickname , pets name, itā€™s down to you but Iā€™d also take into count your child has to grow up and live with that name , if your getting mean comments for liking the name think what your child will have to deal with being called it?! Iā€™m all for unusual names but itā€™s something I took into consideration. Other peopleā€™s opinions donā€™t matter but it will get to you one day and ruin things !

I love it!! I hate when people say ā€˜oh but when theyā€™re older applying for jobsā€¦ā€™ Itā€™s 2024. Itā€™s not like that anymore! Iā€™d love a teacher, lawyer or doctor named coco! Sure as hell better than boring, common names šŸ«¶šŸ¼

CocĆ“ means šŸ’© in Portuguese so for that reason it would a no for me personally

@šŸ”®AngelašŸ”® I work in HR and unfortunately it is still like that. Thereā€™s still a lot of unconscious bias but also people are know better now than to voice their opinions on these things so you hear about it less. It shouldnā€™t be like that but I think you would be surprised at the conversations I have had to have with people in 2024. Also, if someone does get a job then the unconscious bias continues whilst they are in the workplace. I remember my sister telling me only a couple of years ago that she could never wear glitter nail varnish as a solicitor as she already feels like she has to try harder in a room full of men to be taken seriously.

My dogs name is coco so to me it sounds more like a dogs name but thatā€™s just my opinion if you both like it go for it!

@Chloe yes my family is Mexican and instead of saying poop we say did you go coco? šŸ’©

@Bethan thatā€™s also because names havenā€™t fully branched out for us of working age, but when these 2024 babies are working it will be so common to have funky names
