Withholding wee

I am really struggling and feel awful. My daughter is extremely strong willed. She has been potty trained for quite a few months however we have had a lot of changes in our lives. We have moved house twice in a short period, started nursery and has a new baby brother. In the last month, she’s started withholding her wee and will only go about once a day. I have tried everything I can think of to get her to go, treats, loads of praise etc and nothing will work. She was already withholding 💩 for a bit before which stems from constipation issues. She won’t drink much either and is now saying it hurts to wee. We are awaiting a doctors appointment and will speak to HV. I’m just so worried. Anyone else in a similar boat or have any tips? Thanks

Give her bubbles to blow on the potty, may relax her and make it seem fun. As hard as it is (you sound like you are doing a fab job) continue to be positive don't make it sound like it's an issue. Take her to the toilet with you, urinate together. Ask her if she wants to use the toilet instead perhaps?

Can you give her fruit that’s a high water content to supplement fluids? Ie a big bowl of watermelon cut in various shapes? Cucumber etc? I’d be worried about her kidneys only passing urine once a day. Withholding becomes a vicious cycle, it’s so hard. 😕 How about smoothies she can help you make? And I’d look into rehydration sachets to sneak in if she’s limiting her fluids too. You sound like you’re doing great… keep going and know it doesn’t last forever. Once her routine is settled, she won’t feel as ‘out of control’ and need to control her functions. Hugs mum x

@Lee-naomi @Anita thank you! Good ideas. I’ll keep trying x

Uuuhhh that sounds like she could have a urinary tract infection! She needs to get tested asap!
