Start with a banana ..mash it and give it in teeny tiny amounts or i would highly suggest getting the little food holder that looks like a pacifier with mini holes

We started with baby purees and when we noticed her wanting to try our food, we gave her what we had in tiny bites and she did really well with that! But she also got teeth early so we didn’t need to mash it as much

Are you doing BLW? If so go straight to big sized foods that can be cooked until soft. Our first food was a big piece of broccoli she could hold it nicely herself and it turned to mush in her mouth. By the second week she was eating steak

I’m nervous and waiting until he is completely sitting up on his own and has teeth

If you're doing BLW then go straight in with proper food. I think my son had a piece of pepper (cooked), a piece of broccoli and a piece of pasta for his first 'meal'. Essentially we just gave him what we had minus salt and in appropriate sized pieces (Solid Starts app is useful), we never did purees or mashed things up.

@Daniella they don’t need teeth as their gums are really strong and will actually be able to chew down and break foods (this really shocked me) but they do need to be sitting independently to avoid choking and to help digestion

FTM here too with my 6 month old. We started with just purees of random veg and have recently started BLW with things she can hold herself like steamed broccoli, a finger of toast etc. We also do some bigger bits that are harder to hold like melon (I usually hold it for her). Sometimes she'll get something off my plate to try like some carrot

@Daniella if you can squish it with your fingers its fine for them ❤️

I'd give big pieces of cooked veggies. She can hold it and learn more about textures and tastes. And put off doing too much fruit and things that are sweeter
