Agree with @Chloe about everything. Don’t pump more than 15min or even just use a Hakka on the other side. You can pump 45min-1h after eating but it will increase your supply More than likely. Breastfed babies don’t need more than 5-6oz a feed anytime in their lives. With his age, i would offer 2-3oz a time. Pace feed him by holding him semi upright and keeping the bottle at a 90degree angle. If he doesn’t finish the bottle don’t stress, that means his tummy is full. You can feed the rest of the bottle no more than 2hrs after feed started. If it reaches over 2hrs and he still hasn’t finished it, then leave it for a bath or diaper cream.
@Chloe this is so helpful thank you so much!x
@Trinity can’t thank you enough!x
Hey! Following this because I’m going through the same thing with my 11 day old baby boy! I hope you’re doing ok it’s so tough! ❤️
@Trinity I second the haaka I spent nearly £300 on wireless pumps but I prefer my £10 haaka 😂🙃
I wouldn’t introduce a pump yet. Your supply isn’t settled until 6 weeks. I pumped early and it completely messed up my supply and ruined my breastfeeding journey. Let baby do there thing. Baby Crying at the breast is normal and the best way to encourage more milk. It is definitely tough. But you’ll get through it. Just feed baby lots. Enjoy snuggles. Pumping and bottling will take so much more time and effort. Just let baby do what he needs to do xx
I'm an exclusive pumper but baby does now feed in the morning off of me in bed (until her teeth come and then that might stop - I started pumping because she wouldn't latch but now she does when I lay side ways I'm going withnit). When she does this I leave it 30 minutes and pump for 15 minutes. I have sterile bags I put mine in with the date and time. You can store for up to 4 days but I tend to do 3 days and put the 4th day in the freezer when it's day 3 if there is any left. Which there is usually 2 or 3 bags so I do if I need it leave one for milk baths.
I do 5oz in a mams bottle my baby likes it a bit warmer then body temp so its either 6 min in the thermos or 8 min in a 500ml glass jug
It's 1 tk 1.5 oz per hour going a max of 3 hours. At 2 weeks mi e was having a max of 60ml or 2oz every 3 hours
1. Best way I found personally is to pump the other side while baby is feeding. Just be cautious as pumping too much this early on can cause an oversupply which can cause lots of issues like mastitis and fast flow. 2. I use the momcozy milk storage bags. You can write the date and amount on them. They also have a little circle that changes colour when the milk is the correct temperature. My midwife told me the 666 rule. 6 hour at room temp, 6 days in the fridge, 6 months in the freezer. 3. Yes. I gave myself an oversupply by pumping after every feed. I was always engorged and had a fast flow so my baby would choke and spit up loads. I would probably just add one pump session a day. 4. Look into paced feeding. Hold the bottle horizontal so baby has to work to get the milk out. Also stick to the slowest teat. I used to offer 3oz and usually there would be a bit left.
