There is no set age for the dentist, you need to sign up for a dentist and then book an appointment. It is not something that is scheduled automatically. If you don’t have a dentist, ring round and see if you can get your little one registered. I personally signed my girl up for the same dentist as I have and we go to appointments together which just makes things easier, she has been twice now. Many dentists won’t take adults but they’ll take kids on NHS so you may end up having to find one of yours doesn’t take on new patients.
@Ani she’s already registered with my husband’s dentist. I think his due a check up so I might get him to book her in at the same time. Thanks! X
@Elle oh wow really! What did you guys find it? X
It was good! Basically just a glance in his mouth the first time as he was only young, the second time they made sure to count his teeth and told us they could tell they were well brushed. They check what brush / toothpaste you’re using too 🥰
My son already had 2 checkups. Call your dentist to arrange.
We've been going to the dentist every 6 months since my daughter was 8 months old. He doesn't particularly look in her mouth, just gets her used to the place and what they are there to do. He shows her the mirror and shows her how he looks in mummy's mouth and that it doesn't hurt. Her last appt, 3 weeks ago, she let him having a look in her mouth for 10 seconds.
Thanks everyone. 🥲 a little annoyed, as we were told by the HV to just register her and that she doesn’t need an appointment til she’s 2. I would have taken her since her first tooth came through if I knew. X
It completely depends on the dentist. Some dentists won’t see a child under 2/until they have nearly/all their teeth. Other dentists are more than happy to see children as soon as the first tooth is through or earlier
Give them a call to book, my son had his first appointment at 18m (I called and booked him in for straight after me) my dentist recommended every 6 months so we’re back again in Dec x
I registered my LG last year and have since seen them twice. Get him booked in. X
Call the dentist yourself that they are registered to. My son has been having check ups every 6 months since he got his first tooth, just to get him used to it 🥰
