Breast size and milk production

Currently 29 weeks and my breast size is still the same (small) and i haven’t started milk production. At what point does milk production start and should i be worried if my breast still haven’t increased. Consultations made have said it’s fine but i am really worried and concerned

My milk didn't come til my son starting feeding from me some mum's comes a few days after, they say if u hold Ur baby to ur body it helps it produce

From my experience.. my milk didn’t come in until 4 days post birth and although I struggled with getting colostrum, it was enough for a newborns tiny belly. My boobs stayed an A cup throughout pregnancy, they felt a bit fuller but the size didn’t change. I certainly wouldn’t worry yourself at this stage x

It doesn’t matter about the size of your breasts. At some point during pregnancy you will start to produce colostrum, some women leak some women don’t. But when your baby is born this is all they need for the first few days until it changes to mature milk. The removal of the placenta triggers the hormones needed for milk production. If you’re hoping to breastfeed the best thing you can do is educate yourself on what to expect and maybe go along to a local breastfeeding support group

This isn't a thing, don't worry.

Mine grew a little straight off then stopped. You start producing colostrum during pregnancy, can start at 16 weeks but that's your first milk and is thicker. Your milk takes a few days after birth to come in. I had quite a traumatic time of it and struggled with anxiety and exhaustion afterwards so mine was quite late. Started coming in on day 5, was day 6 before it really hit! Your colostrum will be there and will sustain baby until your milk comes in. My baby is 2 weeks old now and milk is flowing fine! Oh and I never leaked colostrum really. Rarely id get some crusty bits on my nipples but that's it.

I had colostrum from around 20 weeks and my milk came in around 2/3days after baby was born x

Size of breasts during pregnancy is not related to milk production it’s just hormones which fill them out not milk. Towards the end of pregnancy you may find you start leaking colostrum but it’s tiny amounts and it doesn’t happen for everyone then when baby is born your milk will come a few days later and then they will get even bigger

I’m a full B cup went to to full C at the end of pregnancy and breastfed 2 kids until toddler. Your body starts making milk around now but it wont flow until the birth of the baby, the removal of the placenta is what “turns on the tap” so to speak. Until then, you may or may not leak and that’s no indication of milk- I never leaked when pregnant. Milk came in day 3 for me but until then tiny amounts of colostrum is what gets the baby by. Think about the whole nation of Asia- Vietnam Cambodia Filipines where the national boob average is like B. High breastfeeding rates there 💁🏻‍♀️

Dont worry you see flat chested women breastfeed triplets, pray that its sufficient as its part of the babies provision that god the provider provide him with it, and you have to do your best to help him with that breastfeeding is very overwhelming at the beginning but it is one of the sweetsest moments that will pass i hope you have support system that can allow you to focus on the baby be patient and keep breastfeeding as much as possible and prepare something to do while breastfeeding aside from scrolling, read and learn i finished thank god around 40 books in the 1st 6 months as its alloooooot of time and dont allow anyone to tell you its too much because it ends just keep praying and being thankful for what happens it will help you alot inshala

Mine didn’t come in until 3-4 days after my C-section. My son got full off of the colostrum though

I don’t think your breast size has anything to do with how much milk you have. Milk production starts usually after the baby has been put on the breast a few times.

Everybody is different. My milk was in the day I gave birth but I leaked colostrum at 28 weeks.
