My daughter had this. Had to feed her every 2-3 hrs and had to pump as well to make sure she was eating enough to flush it out. She is 8 weeks old now and it's all cleared up.
@Kellie @Bobbi I read that they need to eat a bunch but when I asked my pediatrician this she said it didn’t make a difference especially since he’s in such a high percentile for height and weight and is gaining at a normal/faster rate. Ill start trying to do that because sometimes he takes long stretches of sleep and I have to wake him after 3-4 hours
That might be.. my daughter was in 50th percentile, but her Dr is the one that told me to wake her every 2-3 hrs and make sure she is actively eating off each boob for 10 minutes bc she kept falling asleep while eating
Yep my baby is almost 5 weeks and still yellow in the eyes and gums. They tested her twice in the hospital and they weren’t high enough to need the light treatment. She’s very big though and apparently bigger babies are more prone to jaundice.
@Missy I don’t think you need to wake him to feed, especially if he’s gaining fine. It can take a while for the jaundice to clear, it’s perfectly normal for it to take this long. It’s been almost 5 weeks for us :/
My son had it as well. Dr said make sure he eats EVERY 2 hours. Even if I have to wake him up. It should clear up on its own by 12 weeks.
