If you were exclusively breastfeeding and having unprotected sex after giving birth, did you get pregnant within the first year?

Following guidelines of LAM (at least every 4 hours during the day, 6h during the night, exclusively breast feeding)

My son BFs every 2-3hrs and most of the night…. He was born October of 23… I was pregnant in May of 24… ended in a loss sadly and I’m pregnant again 15 nearly 16 weeks due in April… it happens 😅

My daughter was born Feb2023 and I got pregnant that September

I did it 5 months after birth and did not get pregnant. After that, I went on birth control.

Nope I haven’t gotten pregnant the last 5yrs since we tried for the last baby. He was BF until 3. We only ever have unprotected sex but he never ever cums inside

Gave birth September got pregnant November, 2 children under 1

I used the lam and didn’t get pregnant after both pregnancies and I’m very fertile but I didn’t use bottles, pump or use pacifiers I nursed on demand every two to three hours day and night my babies had nothing within the first six months of life other than my breast milk not even water and it’s only effective during the first 6 months post pregnancy if you’re not yet menstruating. It is an official birth control method that’s recognized as such world wide by Marjor health organizations like the cdc the who, planned parent hood etc it’s 98% effective when utilized properly but it’s a very strict regiment/ routine -if I were using bottles, nursing or pumping - pacifiers I personally wouldn’t risk it

@Donna Thanks, yeah I am aware it needs to be used “perfectly” in order to be effective but I think a lot of people probably are doing it slightly imperfectly hence the poll results. Or maybe people didn’t fully understand the poll. Either way… I am doing it to the best of my ability 😂

Yes I think so also as most people I know mothers in general use pacifiers, bottles, pump etc. I also think that people think that just because you nurse that’s all you have to do the instructions are very strict and demanding your children are literally attached to you’re boobs around the clock day and night my babies don’t even cry the boob is in their mouth immediately and the vast majority of the day and night 🫠🤦🏾‍♀️

Right lmao. One person on my side of the family and some friends too have encouraged me to pump in order to “be able to leave the house” and I’m like for what??? I work remotely rn, and if I leave I can use my baby wrap and go somewhere where I can feed her… I don’t get the assumption of wanting to be AWAY more than like a short “break” to do some self care in the house… Anyway 😂

The thing that makes me only slightly worried is the 1-2 times my baby has slept 6-7h stretch at night. But I guess it’s up to god, lol

Yeah my babies don’t sleep that long until after they’re no longer being nursed. My son started to sleep longer at the age of 2 otherwise they’re up all night nursing every two to three hours typically sometimes less
