Screaming in the car when dark

Hi mamas! Really need some advice here. My 1 year old normally loves the car, isn’t scared of dark when at home however as soo as we get in the car when it’s dark outside he starts screaming so bad he’s making himself sick in his car seat. I’ve put the lights on in the car and hasn’t helped. Has anyone got any advice? I can’t be stuck at home as soon as it gets dark all the time
