Dropping pumps?

I’m 7 weeks PP and still pumping 7 times per day. When did EP mummas drop pumps and not notice a drop in supply? Dreaming of dropping that MOTN pump xx

I still pump 6 times a day (ive always done 6) at 30 weeks pp. I just match when my baby eats

I do 5 pumps just bc my schedule, my production hasn’t dropped or stopped I’m 9 weeks pp

@Kali do you do middle of the night pump?

@Rebecca they vary so much bc I like to sleep! I pump 3-6 hrs from when I last pumped which is right before bed! Sometimes I don’t wake up to the alarm. So this ranges from 12-5am

I'm doing five pumps at 11 weeks and getting the same as when I'm pumping eight times. I five started dropping pump sessions around week 7. I dropped one and then waited a week to make sure my supply didn't drop and then dropped another. Look up magic number. That's what I use to help cut pump sessions. The three most important pumps I do are 10:00 p.m., 4:00 a.m., and 10:00 a.m.. I can go 6 hours before my breast hurt and those three are are the ones I don't move. I get most the most milk at 4:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. compared to my other pumps. The ones during the day I just do whenever I have time for. Usually around 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. I found it better for me mentally to have flexibility during the day. As long as I get those three pumps in I know I can do the other two whenever I need or want to. I'm looking at dropping to four pumps a day when I go back to work in December.

Unfortunately it is so different to everyone no one will be able to tell you exactly what will work best for you, so I would reccomend waiting until regulation before reducing pumps. I pumped every 2-3hrs until i was 16 weeks pp, and didn't drop my motn pump until closer to 6 months. But up until i stopped pumping at 13 months pp, everytime I dropped a pump my supply did drop. I know a lot of others haven't had this problem, but it isn't set in stone that you keep your supply unfortunately 🥺

Everyone is different but you just have to slowly extend the time between pumping! Like if you’re pumping every 4 hours - start pumping every 4.5 hours instead

I’m an exclusive pumper, and my son is 9 months now. I’m still at 6 pumps a day and making basically what he takes in daily. I dropped from 7 to 6 pumps when he was around 4 or 5 months. Saw a very slight drop, maybe an ounce or so, but supply has been consistent since. Just don’t think I can afford to risk losing more if I dropped again so I’m stuck at 6. Very exhausting, but you’ll get through it!

The IBCLCs I went to said 8-12 sessions per day including the most important night pumps up until 3 months when your supply regulates
