Serving food to babies

This may be a silly question but why do 9 month olds need food cutting up into smaller pieces compared to younger babies? Is it purely because young babies need bigger bits to be able to hold?

Pretty much yeah

It’s for them to practice their pincer grasp, a fine motor skill that develops around nine months.

You’ve basically answered your own question there😂

At 6mths they don’t understand the basics of chewing so it’s for them to learn grasping and different flavours/textures. Plus less of a choking hazard.

Also to add the don't *need* it cut smaller just that it can IF they have developed their pincer grip.

I'm sorry but I would not give a 6 month old a whole chicken leg! This cycle just seems inaccurate to me.
