Baby not breastfeeding
Hi,
My son who is 17 weeks tomorrow has decided he won’t breastfeed anymore. He only accepts the bottle now so I’m expressing 6 times a day but it’s becoming exhausting! This has been going on over a week.
I really would like to get him back on the boob but whenever I offer it he screams and becomes quite distressed. Has anyone had any success getting a baby back on the boob? Appreciate any help on this

My little boy has done exactly the same!! He is 17 weeks on Tuesday. It’s driving me mad. I managed to get him on one boob for about 10 seconds until he realised and screamed 😩 Hope someone has some answers because keeping up with the pumping is a lot! X

When i introduced the bottle, my baby started doing this. I used to give 1 bottle a day, but on 4th day she just refused to go on boob. I called the breastfeeding helplines, telling me about similar teats and other stuff. So this is what i did... i offered her the boob, but she just flat out refused and cried but i didnt gave her the bottle, coz i knew she was not very hungry. I gave her to my partner and asked him to soothe her. Once she was drowsy, i again gave her the boob, which she took easily. Make sure you have someone with you to help with the crying baby. I would say if the baby is too hungry, give the bottle first and then after few minutes remove the bottle and try to give boob immediately. If this doesn't work, try dream feeding. Most if the times it work coz they are in sleepy state and usually accept anything that taste like breast milk. Good luck mama. Hang in there, it will be alright soon.
