Some times sleepy cues and hunger cues can look the same, I would try to get him to sleep after he eats the normal amount and see if he does okay. I was doing the same thing but I noticed she was just using the suckling as a way to fall asleep. If he's fussy and spitting up a lot you might be overfeeding him. This is just a suggestion, you know your baby so do what you think is best. 😊
How many feeds is he having? My 19 week old is on 7oz bottles every 4 hours or so but at the end of the day you know your baby and if he's hungry and not spitting up and putting on weight consistently and not too much/too little then I wouldn't worry about it. He's a growing boy and you know what he needs 🙂 In regards to being discharged from HV or midwife you can still contact the HV at any time - there's a number on the front of the red book that you can message!
All babies are different! Some are hungrier than others. My girl is 14 weeks and feeds every 3 hours but will only take 150ml. Very occasionally she will take 180ml but usually it’s less and I throw quite a lot of milk away.
My baby was 8lb6oz born and over 11lb at 4 weeks, he was also on 5oz by 2 weeks and I thought it was too much so I asked my HV about it and she said that if baby isn't being sick then he's not being over fed
my baby was born at 7lb 3oz and at 4 weeks old he now weighs 10lbs… my midwives have just given praise and told us we are doing a fabulous job with him 🤷🏼♀️ I wouldn’t worry to much about it
