When does the nipple biting phase end ? 😭

He’s using me as a chewing toy sometimes. I say a firm no and remove him . But it happens again and again

Never if you don't put ur foot down. Or so I heard. As soon as they bite end the whole nursing session and say no biting. They catch on quick if they wanna nurse again.

So end the whole session not just remove him and put him back

Are you only saying "no"? As a baby he may not understand what you are saying no to. I used to say "Biting hurts"

@Irina yes I would end the whole session. He could also be biting because he is full and is still on your nipple.

@Courtney are these the thighs that helped ? Yes , I say no and remove him , but let him come back

@Irina yea definitely end it. For a good 5 minutes. He'll cry. But idk sort of the point of creating a boundary. It's a two way relationship. After a while then start nursing again. Depending how. Stubborn you'll probably have to do it a few times

@Jade thanks so much ! That’s the plan then :)

@Irina Yes these helped with both my kids! With my son, when he was full and didn't really want to nurse, he didn't cry when I removed him. I can't remember how my daughter reacted. I don't think it's wrong to let your son come back after a few minutes if he's crying though. Just keep reiterating it

I usually end the session if they bite 2ce. Bc the first time I say no and and remove the boob. Sometimes she goes back to eating and sometimes she bite again. If she bites again then I know she’s done eating and just playing with me now.

Part of it preventing it from happening, so if you know when they typically bite try to unlatch them beforehand. When they do get a bite in, I unlatch and set baby down for 30 seconds, then return as if nothing happened. Unfortunately with teeth, they will still scrape the nipple sometimes by accident but they typically learn (takes maybe 20-50 repetitions). Also if they’re teething real bad they might still bite for a day or two.

After I come back to baby, I will not offer the boob unless she is signaling she wants more. I’ll latch her again unless I think she’s likely to bite again

@Alicia yes mine was scraping against her teeth so bad that she broke skin😭 then biting on top of it

@Alicia thanks so much for sharing the tips ! Will try and see how quickly he learns lol

@Alexandra that sounds really painful! I have anxiety whenever he nurses bc I know he can bite any time

@Alexandra mine broke skin twice also 😭
