Pumping

Hi everyone! My two month old is sleeping through the night! I am currently pumping in the middle of the night because my boobs get too engorged and I wake up in pain. How do I get rid of this pumping session?

Following because my 6 week old is still sleeping and I’m pumping too!

Dream feed pump session 💪 at around 11-midnight empty the breast completely this will give you close to 6h window for sleep. But that's as far as I got. Our bodies produce the largest amount of hormones for breastfeeding from 2am to 6am, so unless you drop breastfeeding by a lot, I am not sure this will be an easy fix also this might mean that your milk supply might suffer.

If you pump in the night your body will think it needs to continue to make milk at that time so it won’t ever get better. It’s really hard when they do start sleeping a bit better because you still can’t sleep because boobs hurt. Advice I have been given from bf support is hand express only for comfort, do not pump. So I would hand express in to a sink until I felt comfortable (usually doesn’t take a lot to get rid of the engorgement). Took a few nights and then my boobs adjusted and were no longer engorged. Of course the good sleep only lasted 4 weeks and now she is waking every hour again and cluster feeding 😓

I would also suggest to not fully pump but to only hand express enough to get rid of the pain
